QiGong for health & wellbeing, and short Tai-Chi Sequences
for relaxation, coordination, memory, and mental clarity.
Suitable to all, a great class to slow down, relax, develop new body skills, and age gracefully!
Join us, and improve your coordination and balance. Learn movement sequences that are easy
to perform physically but are also good brain gym.
MONDAY 5:15-6:15pm: “Relax & Flow with QiGong & Tai-Chi”
The curriculum includes practices for physical and cognitive health, easy-to-follow and relaxing QiGong routines, and introduction to Tai-Chi principles.
Gentle warm-up, QiGong and brain gym practices may include:
Joints Loosening, body loosening, hands dexterity and brain gym exercises
3 Taoist Rejuvenation Exercises,
Dr Yang Jwing Ming Tai-Chi QiGong,
5 Seasons QiGong,
Old Yang style QiGong,
Seasonal QiGongs such as Water and Kidneys QiGong in the Winter, QiGong for the Liver and the Eyes in the Spring, Heart QiGong in the Summer, Lungs and Immune QiGong in the Fall.
Introduction to Tai-Chi principles may include:
Founding principles: weight shift and hip track, waist turn, Tai-Chi walking, Tai-Chi internal powers (peng, lu, ji, an etc).
13 Powers Tai-Chi, a great intro to Tai-Chi key moves, very short, and doable in a small space
4 Directions 5 Elements Tai-Chi, a complete system for health according to the 5 Elements principles of Chinese Medicine and movement, also doable in a small space. Good for the body and the brain.
Yang 24 Tai-Chi Form (taught in detail from January to June, reviewed in the Fall), a longer sequence that takes more time to learn, but is very rewarding. Recommended for memory and brain health, coordination and balance.
Old Yang Tai-Chi, first section of the long form (when time allows). Good for flexibility and strengthening the legs, very flowing, excellent for balance.
6:15-6:45pm BONUS TIME: “Tai-Chi for Vitality”
Some participants stay for the optional bonus time at no extra cost. This allows for additional teachings and practices. Tai-Chi choreographed sequences that are great to slow down and improve coordination, balance, body skills, and memory.
The exact content depends on the participants preferences, and may include:
Yang 24 Tai-Chi Form, a longer sequence that takes more time to learn, but is very rewarding. Recommended for memory and brain health, coordination and balance.
Old Yang Tai-Chi, first section of the long form (when time allows). Good for flexibility and strengthening the legs, very flowing, excellent for balance.
Exercises for gentle body conditioning of specific body parts (eg core, gluts, hips, feet, etc)
Stretching, such as the Meridian Stretches, the 5 Tibetan Rites
