Why practice Tai-Chi and QiGong?

Slow and flowing movements for wellness and longevity.

They are very easy on the body and can be practiced by people from all walks of life, whatever their level of physical fitness. They help with balance, flexibility, physical performance, mental concentration and clarity, and calm.

“Practicing Tai-Chi and QiGong
can bring serenity and clarity to your mind,
relaxation and inner strength to your body,
and can transform your life.”

I was trained academically in sciences and engineering, and nothing apparently pre-disposed me to become a Tai-Chi and QiGong practitioner, let alone a teacher! But with my first Tai-Chi moves 25 years ago, I felt a sense of physical clarity and transparency that was difficult to describe. I eventually found amazing teachers, and got hooked!

Initially, I have to say that I did not feel anything when we were told to “hold a ball of Qi between our hands”. But gradually subtle sensations emerged, and I also learnt how principles of structural alignment and relaxation were actually a lot more efficient that using muscle strength.

Now every aspect of my life is permeated by what I have learnt and continue to refine through the practice of Tai-Chi and QiGong, physically, emotionally, and at spiritual levels.

I find that a daily practice, even just 10 to 15 minutes, makes a huge difference. It’s saved me from burn-out several times, got me going during very challenging times, and kept me fit even when I did not have time for fitness and cardio exercises.

Now I do both, very athletic forms of exercising (Kung-Fu, running etc), as well as Tai-Chi, QiGong & Meditation. When things get too busy, during challenging times of life, or at some point when I am old and wise 😊, Tai-Chi, QiGong, and Meditation remain my anchor 🙏!

Yours in Qi,

Patricia
